Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

That depends on the type of training.

A third of the commercial training takes place in vocational college and two thirds in the company. Half your time in the company is spent in the training workshop and the other half in the departments. The focus during the first one to two months is on manual skills. You learn how to file, scribe, saw, drill and center-punch. We then slowly introduce you to the machines. This begins in the training workshop with introductions to CNC milling and CNC turning.

During the training as an industrial clerk (m/f/divers), you acquire knowledge of commercial fields such as materials management, production management, sales and accounting. You learn how to use Microsoft programs as well as SAP and gain valuable insights into projects through practice-oriented tasks as well as insights into the cooperation between the departments, in project teams and with partner companies.

During the training as an IT specialist in systems integration (m/f/divers), you learn how to install clients and servers. You concern yourself with topics such as procurement of hardware, software deployment and support for our employees. Setting up and managing networks is as much part of your training as planning and implementing IT projects as well as IT security.

The answer depends on the training location and the profession.

  • For commercial trainees in Fürstenfeldbruck the following applies: The vocational college adheres to the Bavarian school holidays. The lessons usually follow the block-teaching approach.
  • Commercial trainees in Kaufbeuren are taught in weekly blocks during the first year and from the second year on once or twice a week.
  • Industrial clerks visit the vocational college for single days at a time.
  • IT specialists in systems integration visit the vocational college on a block basis.

The commercial trainees in Fürstenfeldbruck start to work in the departments from the third month of their training. They start in departments such as logistics, quality assurance and the tool store so that they get to know the general processes and interrelationships. After that it gets more specific with periods in departments such as assembly, module production and machining.

Commercial trainees in Kaufbeuren spend most of their first year in the training workshop. After passing an intermediate exam, they receive insights into various departments depending on their future profession.

  • Cutting-machine operators learn about machining, quality assurance, CAM programming and Solid Edge programming.
  • Industrial mechanics spend time in the assembly, service and quality assurance departments.

Where you visit vocational college depends on the training location and what type of training you are doing.

Training in Fürstenfeldbruck:

  • Industrial mechanics (m/f/divers) visit the vocational colleges Fürstenfeldbruck (1st and 2nd year of training) and Landsberg (3rd and 4th year of training).
  • Cutting-machine operators (m/w/divers) visit the vocational colleges Fürstenfeldbruck and Munich.
  • Industrial clerks and IT specialists in systems integration (m/w/divers) visit the vocational college Fürstenfeldbruck.

Training in Kaufbeuren:

  • Industrial mechanics (m/f/divers) remain at the vocational college Kaufbeuren during their entire training.
  • Cutting-machine operators (m/w/divers) visit the vocational colleges Kaufbeuren and Memmingen.

SCHLEIFRING has about 40 trainees in each apprenticeship year. The majority are training for a technical profession. In our training workshop, the various training years and professions intermingle. This promotes the exchange of information, experiences and knowledge. As does the work in small group, as due to the different times spent at vocational college, generally only between two and twelve trainees are in the training workshop at any one time.

As a trainee, you can make an active contribution to the structure of your training plan at SCHLEIFRING. We plan the training schedule on an individual basis and together with you – for approximately one training year in advance. We are also very flexible with regard to holidays and you are able to plan them freely to a great extent.
