Roof Habitat at SCHLEIFRING

Roof habitat at SCHLEIFRING: Our green roof makes its personal contribution to the expansion of green spaces. In combination with the adjacent natural space, it makes an important contribution to the survival of endangered species such as bumblebees and wild bees. The plants and animals are left to their own devices and form their own untouched cosmos – a piece of their own wilderness.

Green roofs also bind pollutants and CO² and make an important contribution to flood protection. A high proportion of precipitation is retained on the roof surfaces and returned to the water cycle through evaporation. Excess rainwater that can no longer be absorbed by the plants runs off the roof surface into underground infiltration trenches with a considerable delay and from there slowly seeps back into the water cycle. And UV radiation cannot reach the roof sealing directly either: peak temperatures in summer are lowered and cold temperatures in winter are compensated. The evaporation capacity of the planting provides cooling in summer, while in winter the green roof structure acts as insulation. This saves energy and protects the environment – now and in the future.
