Innovative SCHLEIFRING solutions for the Armoured Infantry Fighting Vehicle Introduction PUMA
For the most modern system of its kind worldwide, SCHLEIFRING developed
and manufactures three highly sophisticated slip ring systems:
- A capsuled 174-way slip ring facilitates
the transmission of power and signals between turret and chassis.
Determined by the implementation of the new unmanned turret concept,
the turret is equipped with much higher number of sensors, cameras and
other measuring and reconnaissance systems than previous conventional
turrets. These input values have to be transferred either analogue or
digitally by a slip ring, even in parallel, to the various interfaces
of the vehicle. The slip ring design includes power rings up to 300
Amps and 1000 Amps peak, CAN-Bus, RS 422 data links and video channels.
Particularly the unit’s the ground and shield concept required special
attention to fully meet the requirements in accordance with the vehicle
EMC demands.
- Integrated with the commander periscope RTWL-B with stabilized 360°
surveillance, thermal imaging camera, laser rangefinder and CCD cameras
a 136-way slip ring. This application utilizes a functional space and
weight optimizing module and brush block design integrated with the
existing high-precision bearing by the periscope supplier.
- Although the optronic target system operates in azimuth as well as
elevation mode in a limited angle of rotating a slip ring solution for
the azimuth axis interface was given preference to a trailing cable
installation. A very compact 37-way pancake slip ring design with
guaranteed constant turning torque was the decisive factor.
