Not only is it a recognition of a great achievement and quality in an aggressive time scale but it establishes SCHLEIFRING as the gold standard of supplier and the bench mark by which all others had been judged through the past year.

To be presented with the SIEMENS MED “Supplier of the Year” award out of a group of 1,422 suppliers - particularly in the category quality - is an exceptional honor.

SCHLEIFRING’s GigaFOS ® project awarded
SCHLEIFRING’s Kaufbeuren plant for medical slip rings will produce this awarded system for data transmission in Computer Tomographs. For the first time inconceivable high digital detector/scanning data – one single three-dimensional picture gobbles down the memory capacity of 30 CD ROMS - is transmitted optically between a rotating and a stationary plane. As the X-ray and the transmission speed is faster than a heart beat, the medical practitioner views a clear and high resolution image of the patient’s heart on the monitor – like in a standstill mode.
This super-data transmission technology, developed in cooperation with the Technical College of Nuremberg, could theoretically transmit 1,000,000 phone calls per second in parallel.

The award of the DFSS-2000 accolade to SCHLEIFRING has far reaching implications. Not only is it a recognition of a great achievement in an aggressive time scale but it establishes SCHLEIFRING as the gold standard of supplier and the bench mark by which all others are judged. We are immensely proud of this achievement and heartily thanked all his staff and his GE partners for this recognition and with his typical dramatic flair he commenced his acceptance speech with the time honored Hollywood phrase "and the Oscar goes to ..... SCHLEIFRING!"
